Earlier, the bridge was scheduled to be opened to traffic on April 27.

The programme has been rescheduled as Japanese Foreign Minister Machimura will not be able to attend the inaugural function on April 27 due to pre-occupation. Machimura will be able to come to Bangladesh on May 12.

Rupsha Bridge has been constructed with the financial assistance of Japan. Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will be the chief guest at the inaugural function.
