3-day programme opens at Dakkhindihi

In celebration of the 144th birth anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore, a national level programme begins at Rabindra Complex at Dakkhindihi village under Phultala upazila of the district today. The three-day programme will be inaugurated by Khulna City Mayor Shaikh Tayebur Rahman as chief guest. The programme includes discussion on Tagore's life, cultural function and fair. Mrinalini Devi, wife of Rabindranath Tagore, was born at Dakkhindihi. The two-storied palatial building belonging to her father Beni Madhab Roy Chowdhury has turned into a place of historical interest after the construction of 'Rabindra Complex' there in 1995. Mrinalini Mancha was constructed in front of the building in 1996.
