BACE to get Chand Sultana Literacy Award
Bangladesh Association for Community Education (BACE) has been selected for Chand Sultana Literacy Award-2004 in recognition of its contributions to non-formal education and the spread of literacy, says a press release.

The award, which includes Tk 30 thousand, a crest and a certificate, will be handed over to the association at a function at Ahsania Mission Auditorium in the city on May11.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission initiated the award in memory of late Chand Sultana, a renowned social worker and educational material developer who died a premature death in April 1999.

The award is being given every year since 2000 to an individual or institution for their outstanding contribution in the field of education.

Established in 1977, BACE has been working for poor, illiterate and disadvantaged people through various programmes on education, life-skills development and employment generation.
