Change negative attitudes towards country: Moudud

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Barrister Moudud Ahmed at a conference yesterday called upon people to change their negative attitudes towards the country."We do not feel comfortable to say about the achievements of the country, but we are very fond of finding negative aspects of the country," he viewed. "As a dependent nation we were victim of exploitation for thousands of years which is the reason for such negative attitude," he said while addressing the conference organised by Bangladesh Secretariat Personal Officers' Association at National Press Club in the city. Emphasising skilled administration, the minister said, " Skilled administration is one of the main condition for good governance for which personal officers in the administration can play a vital role." Personal Officers (PO) demanded of the government to resume pay scale, selection grade and PO allowances that were suspended after the declaration of the POs as second class officers. "Worryingly, a third class official gets higher salary than a second class officer by getting much facilities like selection grade and time scale," Personal Officers Association General Secretary Abdul Khaleque aggrieved. The Law Minister, however, assured the POs to take steps to fulfill their demands. Association members Abul Khaer, Kuddus Ali, Faruque Hossain and Mashiur Rahman also addressed the conference.
