HSBC donates Tk 3.50 lakh to ABC
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) donated Tk 3.50 lakh to the Assistance for Blind Children (ABC) on the occasion of its 27th founding anniversary at the ABC Complex in Gazipur recently, says a press release. The funds will be used to procure ophthalmic equipment for the ABC Complex Eye Hospital. Established in 1978, ABC has been working for awareness building, blindness prevention, eye treatment, education, basic rehabilitation training and socio-economic rehabilitation of the visually impaired poor children of the society. HSBC Bangladesh CEO Steve Banner in his speech as chief guest said, "As the world's local bank HSBC carries with it the task of being in tune with the local communities, the people and the culture of the country. ABC President Rahim Asafjah said "ABC has passed its 27 years in the endeavour of achieving some smiles on the face of visually impaired children with the help of philanthropic supports." She said that the procurement of ophthalmic instruments and IOL lens with HSBC's contribution would strengthen ABC Eye Hospital complex enormously and would help in the blindness prevention programme."
