Hats off to Rab!

I refer to the press conference organised by the outgoing D.G. of Rab in Dhaka on April 21, 2005, which was covered extensively both in the electronic and print media on 21/04/05 and 22/04/05 respectively.Rab clearly spelt out its vision for a safe social order covering the entire country. Having lost my hubby on the 89th day of my marriage to the bullets of assassins in broad daylight, my salute to Rab's entire rank and file, especially Col. Bari for the firm stand he took on the issue of bringing back law and order. Yes, we are now witnessing carefree movement of entire families around shopping malls and other entertainment spots, due to terrorists and toll collectors vanishing into thin air. The ultimate benefit of Rab's challenge to the terrorist is that FDI from India, Malaysia, Pakistan and the Mid-East is almost gate crashing into Bangladesh with lucrative proposals worth billions of US dollars. This was inconceivable till recently. Above everything else, Rab has not even spared the toll collectors and criminals within its own rank and file, having acted against 133 individuals inclusive of top guns like the A.C. & D.C. Is it not an open secret that there are godfathers and serial killers among our politicians, bureaucrats and the businessmen? Since the liberation of Bangladesh, apart from a handful of people, these elements have never been brought to justice. Yet people are suffering due to their presence in every sphere of life. I feel that at this critical juncture of Rab's unqualified successes, Rab must not become complacent, nor should it bother much about what the human rights organisations are saying. Now, Rab's duty is to pounce on the godfathers and other influential criminals who are responsible for the crisis that we are passing through.
