Bangladesh, China sign MoU on textile today


Bangladesh and China will sign a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) today to boost textile sector for mutually beneficial purposes.

The MoU, first ever in textile sector between the two countries, will cover research and development units of local textile sector, technology exchange, relocation of factories, said MA Awal, president of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA).

Visiting Chinese Vice Minister for Commerce, Yu Guangzhou will attend the occasion of the MoU to be signed between Cao Xinyu, vice chairman of the China Chamber of Import and Export of Textiles and MA Awal at the BTMA conference room.

Chinese investors can enjoy the GSP (generalised system of preference) facility of Bangladesh while we can get benefit from their technological advancement, said the BTMA president.

China is facing safeguard restriction from the two biggest export markets --USA and European Union.

On the other hand, Bangladesh is enjoying GSP facility of the EU countries.
