BCL yet to submit report on DU clash

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the main opposition Awami League (AL), has not yet submitted its report to the AL high command regarding the intra-party clash at Dhaka University on May 14 that led the BCL central leaders to suspend all the activities of its DU unit

The clash left at least seven leaders and activists including DU unit general secretary injured.

A two-member committee with BCL President Liaqat Sikder and General Secretary Nazrul Islam Babu was formed to investigate the incidents and submit its report on May 19.

Babu said they have almost finished the investigation and will submit their report to AL Chief Sheikh Hasina tomorrow.

He said they would take punitive measurers against the persons responsible for the incident after a discussion with Sheikh Hasina.

Many BCL leaders said if punitive actions are not taken, party chain of command might be collapsed and violent factional clash could erupt on the campus any time.

They said a new convening committee might be formed after dissolving the existing DU unit.
