Buddha Purnima tomorrow

Buddha Purnima, the biggest religious festival of the Buddhists, will be celebrated tomorrow.The day marks the birth, death and attainment of enlightenment by Lord Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. On this day, the Buddhists gather in their viharas for worship and giving alms to monks. They also reaffirm their faith in the five principles (Panch Sheel) - not to take life, not to steal, not to kill, not to drink liquor and not to commit adultery. The day is a public holiday. Elaborate programmes, including processions, rallies and discussions have been chalked out to celebrate the day. Bangladesh Buddha Cultural Association will hold a rally and bring out a peace procession from in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the morning.
