Concern over tree felling in Dhanmondi

Speakers at a rally yesterday expressed concern over the continued felling of trees and construction of high rise buildings by a vested quarter at Dhanmondi in the city. They called upon the government to take stern measures against the vested quarter and set up open space and parks for maintaining an ecological balance in the area. The rally was organised by Janauddog and Dhanmondi Paribesh Unnayan Jote at Dhanmondi bridge. Presided over by Janauddog Coordinator Sharifuzzaman Sharif, the rally was addressed by engineers Kamal Siddiqui and Golam kibria, architect Mobashwer Hossain, Dr Sultana Alam, environmentalists Mahidul Huq Khan, Abu Naser Khan, Dr Khaleda Khanom, Advocate Abul Kalam Azad and Alamgir Kabir. After the rally, a procession was brought out that paraded different parts of Dhanmondi.
