3 killed in Jessore

Three persons were killed in two separate incidents in Jhikargachha upazila on yesterday. Of them, two were killed in a road accident and another in the hands of robbers.

Police said, two persons were killed and at least 30 others injured when a speeding Satkhira-bound bus of Khulna-Satkhira route dashed against a roadside tree and turned turtle in a ditch on yesterday morning.

Hamid Ali, 45, and Abdul Mannan, 35, were killed on the spot while 35 passengers of the ill-fated bus were injured. The injured were rushed to Jessore 250-Bed Hospital and Jhikargachha Upazila Health Complex. The accident took place at Chapatala on the Jessore-Benapol road.

Enamul Haque alias Mashul, 24, of Arshingri village, was killed by a gang of robbers when they were looting 106 sacks of paddy from his brother's 'chatal' (Rice Processing Ground)

The robbers intentionally killed Enamul to create panic among other workers at the 'chatal'. Police could not trace the truck used by the gang to carry the looted paddy.
