Mithapukur UNO sued

A case has been filed against the Mithapukur Upzila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and five officials for alleged corruption and nepotism in leasing government water bodies.

In the case filed with the court of Senior Assistant Judge, businessman Asrafuddoula alleged that the UNO, Mokbul

Hossen, leased water bodies to associations not registered with the government's Youth Development Directorate, thereby violating a government decision.

As per the government decided, water bodies should be leased among registered associations, the col0pmainant said.

Sources said that members of some registered associations in the upazila had lodged a complaint with Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Najrul Islam regarding this.

Asked by this correspondent, Mokbul Hossen however denied the allegation and said, "The allegation was made by those who could not lease waterbodies".
