3 land ports go to pvt companies soon


Three land ports of greater Dinajpur district, Hili, Biral and Bangla-bandha will be handed over to private companies within this month.

Initially, the tenure of the contract will be for 25 years, according to sources in Bangladesh Land Port Authorities here.

Panama Traders of Dhaka and four other companies have signed contracts with the authority to develop Hili port and Dynamic Trade Syndicate signed contract to develop Biral port.

Sources in the land port authorities told this correspondent that they had already acquired 10 acres of land at Hili, 10 acres of land at Biral and 18.03 acres of land at Banglabandha for the purpose.

The land will be handed over to private companies.

The companies will take charge of Bill Operation Transfer (BOT) from the government.

The companies will construct houses, necessary road and other infrastructure for the land ports.

The companies are supposed to start work in June which will be completed by next year, according to concerned sources.

The chairman of Bangladesh land port authorities, Amzad Hosssain Sirker visited Hili and Biral in March.
