At around 5:00pm a traffic sergeant Golam Morshed seized a RU teacher, Ariful Dolon's bike alleging that he was not carrying any valid documents. Dolon, a teacher of the Institute of Business Studies, went to the campus and informed the JCD leaders about the incident. Rafiqul Islam, a former RU JCD organising secretary along with other JCD activists Romel, Miran, Shafin went to the local police station and demanded release of the bike. Being refused the activists put up logs on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway, interrupting traffic movements for the next two hours. At around 7:30pm, Rapid Action Battalion members with the help from the local police station finally managed to drive the agitators away and brought back order. Akram Hossain, officer in charge of Motihar police station, told that the agitating students withdrew the siege after RU Proctor Shamsul Islam assured them of immediate release of the bike.
