Mother poisons 3-yr-old son to death, kills herself

A poor mother killed her three-year-old son with poison and later she took the poison to kill herself at Radha-Krishanapur village under sadar upazila of the district.The neighbours recovered the corpses breaking into the room at 9:00am yesterday after getting no response from inside the room. The victim Rahima Khatun, 25, is married to Saiful Islam, a rickshaw van puller. Saiful did not take care of his wife and the kid for a long time. Suffered from prolonged poverty, frustrated Rahima decided to end her life. Locals said, on Monday night, she first gave poison with food to her son Rafiqul Islam and after ensuring the death, she also took poison and committed suicide.
