Launch capsize
Hasib, Dhanmondi, Dhaka
Launch capsize is common news during the months of April and May . Hundreds of lives are lost for some insensible and unscrupulous people to whom lives mean nothing. Nor'wester is a common scene in Bangladesh and everybody knows that apart from those people in decision making positions. The minister visits the spot and tries to defend himself. Only the victims' families know how painful it is to see the near and dear ones dead. Can't we adopt the necessary steps to stop such incidents? I think this is high time to raise voice against those people responsible for such mishaps. ***How many launches need to sink for our "honourable" Shipping Minister Akbar Hossain to "disgracefully" resign? Ever since the beginning of this regime, this "respectable" minister has been "formulating" laws and launches have been sinking. Apart from population control (by means of mass drowning), this minister has contributed absolutely nothing. I am ashamed that my tax taka is going towards paying for ministerial expenses! As a taxpayer and a citizen I would request our honourable PM to stop wasting my money on "lemon" leaders and do the moral thing! Adnan Siddiky Ottawa, Ontario, Canada ***It seems the government is totally oblivious of the fact that it has a role to play in preventing launch accidents. The shipping minister could not say that it was someone' responsibility to explain how such murderous accidents take place on a regular basis. We cannot really wait for more mishaps to take place. The ministry should find out the causes behind launch accidents and punish the people responsible for them. Aziz Ahmed, Dhaka
