Countrymen hostage to evil forces
Kamal tells Rajshahi meeting

Jatiya Oikya Mancha (JOM) Convenor Dr Kamal Hossain yesterday called upon all to be united against corruption, terrorism and violation of rule of law.

Almost everyone in the country has now become hostage to evil forces. Terrorism and repression gained momentum for the flexibility of the government.

Only unity among the honest people can save us from the unbearable situations, he said at a public meeting here at Sheb Bazaar yesterday.

Chaired by Rajshahi JOM Conveynor Advocate Muhammad Yahia, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Sammilito Shangskritik Jote

President Dr Shafiqul Alam, AL leaders Tajul Islam, KHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Workers Party men Fazle Hossain Badsha, Hamidul Haque, Sagir Anwar, Mahfuz Akram and Subrata Chowdhury.

Dr Kamal, also the president of Gono Forum, said politics is now being dominated by muscle power and black money. "If we do not come forward and get united under a single platform, the country would face troubles in the future".

Kamal also slated the delay in investigation into the gruesome murder of Rajshahi University Professor Yunus and the rape and murder of schoolgirl Mili.

Earlier in the noon, the eminent lawyer exchanged views with the local lawyers at Rajshahi Bar auditorium where he urged them to be united for establishing the freedom of judiciary.

Later, he spoke to the local professionals at a community centre at night.
