Criminals beat journo at Gangni

M Manunur Rashid Rabi, vice-president of Gangni Press Club and correspondent of the Daily Nayadiganto, was seriously injured in an attack by the criminals at the Gangni upazila headquarters yesterday. Police said several criminals, led by Amirul Islam, swooped on Rabi at about 11:00am and hit in his head with a stick as he earlier reported some drug related incidents in Gangni. Rabi was admitted to Gangni Health Complex in critical condition. A case has been filed with Gangni thana in this connection. Local journalists from different dailies at a meeting with Meherpur Press Club President M Israil Hossain in the chair demanded immediate arrest of and exemplary punishment to the criminals.
