Griffith will not seek reelection

Teddy Griffith has decided not to seek reelection as president of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

The 69-year-old has been in charge since September 2003, when he replaced former Test fast bowler Wes Hall.

The West Indies team won the Champions Trophy last year, but have suffered a series of disappointing defeats in Test cricket during his period in office.

A new president will be elected next month with the main task of overseeing planning for the 2007 World Cup.

A WICB statement on Friday said Griffith felt he would not be able to "commit the energy and resources required to fulfil the role" because of personal and family considerations.
