Provision for Whitening Black Money
AL leaders blast Saifur

Awami League central leaders yesterday said finance minister has kept the provision for whitening black money in the proposed budget to give a scope to corrupt BNP men, including Tarique Rahman and Naser Rahman. Speakers reiterated the demand of reform in the caretaker government and said that they would invite a doomsday, if needed, to prevent any election attempt without reform in the caretaker government. No election will be held under the relatives of the killer, AL leaders said. They said this at a protest rally organised by Awami Jubo League (JL) at Mirpur in the city. The meeting was scheduled to take place at Mirpur outer stadium after taking permission from the authority to protest the killing of a Jubo League leader Mahbubur Rahman. Police and a group of local goons damaged the stage of the meeting. Police did not allow them to use mike in the meeting and put restriction on gathering of more than five persons in the area. There was an altercation between police and Jubo League leaders regarding this restriction. Later, Jubo League organsied the meeting on the open premises beside the Mirpur National Stadium. Dhaka City (North) Awami League president Abul Bashar presided over the meeting. Awami League presidium member Motia Chowdhury, Mohammad Nasim MP, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Jubo League Chairman Jahangir Kabir Nanak and General Secretary Mirza Azam MP addressed the meeting.
