409 institutions go blank
Bdnews, Dhaka
Not a single candidate from 409 schools and madrasas across the country came out successful in this year's SSC and Dakhil examinations. The number of educational institutions from which none passed the SSC, SSC (Vocational) or Dakhil examinations last year was 567, while in 2003 it was 642. According to the education ministry sources, the educational institutions having zero-success will have to face tough time in future. Of the total unsuccessful educational institutions, some 224, more than half, are madrasas. Board wise: Rajshahi Education Board topped the list of zero-success educational institutions with 89 followed by Dhaka Education Board with 47. No student came out successful from 37 schools under Barisal Education Board, five schools under Chittagong Education Board, four schools under Sylhet Education Board and three schools under Jessore Education Board. When contacted, State Minister for Education ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon told the news agency that the ministry would take stern action against the educational institutions from which no student came out successful. "The ministry is going to launch a fact-finding mission soon to reveal the reasons for their failure and find-out the ways to solve the problem," he said.
