The last date for submission of nomination papers is August 6, said an Election Commission notification yesterday. Candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination papers until August 14, it added.

The Jatiya Sangsad seat comprising Madhukhali, Boalmari and Alphadanga upazilas fell vacant on June 8.

The deputy commissioner of the district has been appointed returning officer in the by-polls. The upazila nirbahi officers of the three upazilas will serve as assistant returning officers.
