Dhaka-Thimpu direct air service soon

Direct air service between Dhaka and Bhutanese capital Thimpu will resume soon, civil aviation ministry sources said yesterday.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Dasha Jigme Tshultim and State Minister for Civil Aviation Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin at the latter's office here.

The two sides also agreed to launch direct flight operation of Druk Air between Thimpu and Chittagong, the commercial capital and Port City of Bangladesh.

The Bhutanese airliner will later be given the flight operation opportunity up to Cox's Bazar, the longest sea beach in the world.

Civil Aviation secretary Iqbal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury and senior officials were present.
