Hotel Agrabad fined for unhygienic food

A mobile court yesterday punished 14 hotels and restaurants including the three-star Hotel Agrabad for unhygienic food, dirty atmosphere and failure to produce proper trade licence.Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Magistrate Syeda Sarwar Jahan directed the five-hour mobile court starting from 8am to 1pm. She awarded a fine of Tk 93,000 to some food outlets that includes Bonoful, Mishtimela, Model and Chinese restaurant Sangri-La. The magistrate found unhygienic environment at the kitchen of Hotel Agrabad. She also noticed that substandard soybean oil was being used in cooking and flies flitting on some food items. The magistrate fined the hotel authorities Tk 1,000 as the law awards to first time offenders. Mishtimela authorities were fined Tk 50,000 as they failed to produce any genuine BSTI license.
