Govt press note assures people of protection

The government, in a press note yesterday, assured the people that it was determined to protect their lives and property and urged them not to panic.

"There have been a series of bomb blasts in almost all districts of the country, including capital Dhaka, from 10:00am to 11:30am yesterday," the press note said, adding there is, however, no report of death or massive losses in these incidents.

In most of the cases, the targets of the blasts were government establishments like court buildings and offices of the deputy commissioners.

The press note said there was time device in the bombs that were exploded and leaflets of the recently banned Jama'atul Mujahideen were found at the places of occurrence.

From an analysis it seems the main objective of the planned bomb blasts was to scare the people and create an unstable situation in the country.

The press note further said that some miscreants have been caught red-handed in different districts. The members of the law enforcement agencies have been directed to identify the miscreants involved in the blasts and people behind the scenes and bring them to book as soon as possible.

The government also urged people to provide information about the miscreants and their plans, if they have any, to the nearest police stations.
