She was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition.

Bibi Kulsum, 25, of city's Fatulla Chowdhury Para, said she went to her second husband Alam Mollah's shop at Patuatuli on Tuesday afternoon to collect Tk 62,000 she had kept with him.

Alam first refused to give the money and was locked into altercation with Kulsum, whom he visits occasionally. At one stage, he proposed her to go with him to his friend's house for bringing money.

Alam along with Kulsum and another man took a rickshaw to go to Babu Bazar to his friend's house. On the way he threw acid on Kulsum's back and neck through syringe when they reached the Babu Bazar Bridge at almost late night and fled away with his accomplice.

Kulsum went to DMCH by her own yesterday noon. She is now at the hospital in a critical condition.

No case was filed in this connection.
