ministry asked to distribute govt ads thru' DFP again

The 15th meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the Information Ministry yesterday decided to distribute government advertisements through the Department of Film and Publication (DFP) again.

The decision was taken in the wake of irregularities in distributing the advertisements directly from the government organisations. The meeting asked the ministry to take necessary steps in this regard to save the government funds.

Committee chairman Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury presided.

The meeting recommended cancelling of the media list of the newspapers, which have been published violating the rules and regulations of the Audit Bureau of Circulation.

The meeting discussed how to improve the standard for BTV English news and increase advertisement time to raise income.

Appreciating the government's ongoing drive against adulterated food, the meeting said media organisations under the Information Ministry should take a coordinated programme to create mass awareness against the such unfair activities.

Information Secretary Dr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman and chiefs of the organisations under the ministry were present at the meeting.
