Tigers open tour today

Bangladesh launch their campaign in Sri Lanka today when they play a limited-overs practice match against Sri Lanka A team at Moratuwa.

Dashing opener Avaiska Gunawardene will lead the Sri Lankan second string team.

The Bangladesh think-tank has decided to give opener Shahriar Nafees and uncapped left-arm paceman Syed Rasel rest for the match as they got only four days break at home after returning from England.

Middle-order batsman Rajin Saleh is likely to open the innings with Javed Omar Belim.

Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar, however, was more concerned with the International Cricket Council's (ICC) new one-day rules as they are going to face it for the first time.

"We are not thinking about winning, rather our main concern is how to get accustomed to the super-sub and power play before the three-match one-day series. I had a long discussion with coach Dav Whatmore about the issue yesterday," said Bashar.

"It would be a very crucial matter for both sides in the three-match series because its is not easy to apply the rules on the field," he added.

He also informed that left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak will be used as a super-sub in the match.

The Tigers, who left Dhaka on Wednesday, will play their first one-day international against the hosts on August 31 at Sinhalese Sports Club.
