JCD programmes to strengthen party activities

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of the ruling BNP, has taken up programmes to strengthen its activities at grassroots level to ensure victory in the upcoming national election. The JCD has formed 11 teams comprising top leaders to monitor its activities at district and upazila levels. The teams would take stern action against party leaders and workers who have criminal records or are engaged in anti-organisa-tional activities. The JCD will hold a convention of its female leaders of different units next month where BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Tareque Rahman is expected to be present as chief guest. Talking to The Daily Star, JCD General Secretary Shafiul Bari Babu said at the direction of Tareque Rahman they have formed 11 teams according to 11 sectors of the liberation war to strengthen democracy and protect country's sovereignty. He said the main objective of the convention is to make female leaders aware of their duties to motivate general students and women in favour of the BNP. A total of five leaders from each units including districts, thanas, colleges and universities would take part at the convention to be held at the Teachers-Students Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University. "Our aim is to change the political culture now prevailing in the country," Babu said adding, the JCD teams and the female leaders would motivate the general voters through the country. The 11 teams will also form sub-committees and hold council of the district and thana units where it is necessary. Team leaders are JCD Senior Vice-President Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Shahidul Islam Babul, Amirul Islam Khan Alim, Jwanta Kumar Kundu, Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel, Asaduzzaman Asad, Mostafa Khan Shafori, Ekramul Haque Biplob, Azharul Haque Mukul, Haider Ali Lenin and Nurul Islam Nayon.
