The victim identified as Mohammad Mozaffar Hossain, 32, was a vegetable trader of Karwan Bazar in the city.

Mozaffar was abducted from his residence at Badda in the city on Wednesday by three of his villagers, victim's brother told the journalists at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.

He said the three forced his brother to go with them to Tongi. Since then, he was missing.

An unanimous caller phoned Amir Hossain, a friend of Mozaffar, and said that his friend's body has been kept under the hyacinth near a palm tree on the bank of the river Turag at Nababer Bagh in Mirpur.

Later, police recovered the body at about 2:00pm. The throat of the body was found tied with plastic rope.

The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
