For failing to recognise them

Shahidullah hall Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders yesterday confined two house tutors to the hall for about an hour for failing to recognise them.

Sources said the house tutors Prof MA Malek and Prof Syed Humayn Akther- went to the hall to rescue Sajib, a first year student of Physics, who was confined to room no 1205 by a group of students.

The students confined Sajib to the room suspecting him to be a cellphone thief when he went there to look for a friend.

The house tutors rescued Sajib and took him to the house tutor's office at the extended building of the hall. Hearing the news, the JCD leaders led by hall unit President Zakaria Al Mamun and General Secretary Abdul Wahab went to the office and forced the teachers to release Sajib.

The JCD leaders confined the teachers to the office room as they wanted to know their ( JCD leaders) identity.

Later, DU unit leaders rescued the teachers from the confinement.

Teachers of the hall protested the incident. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof AFM Yusuf Haider visited the hall.
