Golden jubilee of Pather Panchali celebrated
One of legendary film director Satyajit Ray's memorable works, Pather Panchali completed its 50th year on August 26. Based on Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay's novel, the movie was released in Kolkata. Through the ages, the movie has attained a cult following. To mark the occasion, Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) organised a discussion programme at Shaheed Munir Chowdhury Semimar Room, TSC, according to a press release. The programme was chaired by president of DUFS, Hafizur Rahman Tito. Film directors Subhash Dutta, Tanvir Moqammel, Satyajit Ray exponent Anwar Hossain Pintu and eminent cultural personality Wahidul Haque participated in the discussion. A paper titled Satyajiter Chalachchitra was also presented at the event. The programme also included screenings of Pather Panchali and a documentary on Ray's life and works.
