Mobile phone fair in Ctg ends on high note

The three-day mobile phone fair ended here yesterday with a high note.

In three days, around 40,000 visitors thronged the auditorium of Chittagong Engineers Institute, the venue of the show, and showed keen interest in the mobile phone sets of different brands and various accessories and other products.

"Our purpose has been served" was the expression of an elated Ahadur Rahman, the marketing director of Soul, a commodity service firm, which organised the show.

He said tickets worth over Tk 2.5 lakh were sold during the fair. The participants also expressed similar satisfaction.

"My firm, Chittagong Telecom, has made a business of Tk 8 lakh from the fair," said Anisur Rahman, proprietor of the firm, while Siemens Chittagong In-charge Khondoker Mizanur Rahman said they fetched Tk 18 lakh.

"This turnout is really encouraging for us as we were a bit frustrated due to the recent downslide in the businesses caused by the tax imposition on cellphone connection," the Siemens official said adding that such fairs should be arranged on regular basis to help grow the mobile phone market.
