BKMEA gets equipment from GTZ

As part of its ongoing assistance programmes to strengthen the knitwear sector in Bangladesh in the post-MFA era, the German-based GTZ has given some equipment to Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA). The equipment was handed over at the BKMEA office Sunday. The equipment includes a comprehensive computer-based structure to accommodate an information management system (IMS). Furthermore, office equipment was provided to upgrade the administrative department in both the Dhaka and Narayanganj offices. This contribution from GTZ, in the total context of a comprehensive support programme, will further strengthen the capacity of the BKMEA, said a press release. GTZ's programme for the promotion of the private sector, called PROGRESS, signed a long-term cooperation agreement with the BKMEA last year. GTZ's Programme Coordinator Paul Weijers, Project Manager David Ambadar and Business Development Advisor Ameena Chowdhury, were present in the handing over ceremony. BKMEA President Mohammad Fazlul Hoque and directors AKM Zahidul Hoque, Shamsul Hoque and GM Haider Ali were also present.
