During his stay, Sanderson is expected to meet the president, the finance minister and the governor of Bangladesh Bank, says a press release.

Jaspal Bindra, regional general manager (South Asia) of Standard Chartered, is accompanying him.

Sanderson joined the Board of Standard Chartered PLC in 2002. He became the chairman in 2003.

In 1992, Sanderson was appointed managing director British Petroleum Co PLC with group responsibility for Asia Pacific. He continued as chief executive of BP Chemicals until 2000.

In 1999, Sanderson was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his service to the industry.
