A top leader of Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Janajuddha), who hid himself in the capital since last November, was arrested from a garments factory at Khilgaon in the capital yesterday. The arrestee Bahadur Munshi, 27, the armed wing leader of Janajuddha, is the son of Mozammel Munshi of Tetultala at Botiaghata in Khulna. He is accused of murder in at least two murder cases including one for triple murder, police said. Police from Botiaghata and Khilgaon Police Station, acting on a tip off, raided Coast to Coast Apparel at 618/C in Khilgaon Chowdhury-para around 11:45am yesterday and arrested Bahadur. Police said Bahadur is a leader of BDR Altaf group of Janajuddha faction and leads an armed wing of the outlawed party. He was a close associate of Altaf who was killed last year in an encounter with police at Paikgacha upazila in Khulna district, police said. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Botiaghata Police Station Mahbubur Rahman said he came to the capital five days ago with a few suspects arrested in connection with the August 17 blasts. He came to know at least seven Janajuddha members including Bahadur were hiding in the capital, who were absconding since November 2004, he added. Learning about Bahadur's hiding in the cutting section of the factory, the OC requisitioned police force and raided the garments factory yesterday. Bahadur was taken to Khulna last night for interrogation.
