BDR pushes back 8 Indians thru' Panchagarh border

Members of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) pushed eight Bangla-speaking Indian Muslims, including women and children, back to India through Tentulia border of Panchagarh Saturday night.Sources said Jalpaiguri Battalion 10 of Border Security Force (BSF) of India, pushed the victims into Bangladesh territory through a place near boundary pillar no 443 opposite to Tentulia outpost Saturday morning. Five of the victims were members of the same family, including three children and a woman. They were Borhan Matobbar, 35, his wife Parveen Begum, 29, their daughters Salma, 10, Setara, 7 and Marium, 4. The other three, Layek Sheikh, 22, Babul, 30 and Lokman, 20, were Indian citizens who have been living in New Delhi for decades. A few days ago, they were picked up by Indian police from their slums and later handed over to the BSF troops along with other such victims for pushing them into Bangladesh. Patrolling BDR jawans held all the victims and kept them under the custody of a local UP member after interrogation. They were provided with food, medicine, clothes and other humanitarian supports by BDR and local people before pushing them back to Indian territory again last night, the sources said.
