SC Bar Assoc demands resignation of Justice Faizee
Staff Correspondent
Leaders of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) yesterday reiterated the demand for resignation of Justice Faisal Mahmud Faizee following his reception by the BNP-Jamaat leaders at Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong on September 9.The association President Mahabubey Alam and General Secretary M Enayetur Rahim in a joint statement expressed deep concern over the reception to the justice accorded by political leaders and activists. Such a reception to the justice is unprecedented and it proves the claim that the government appointed Faizee a justice on political consideration, the SCBA leaders said. Faizee's attachment with the political leaders and activists and his "controversial activities" have tarnished the image of the justices and the courts and made them questionable and controversial to the public, they added. A madrasa committee backed by local BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders accorded a reception to Faizee in Fatikchhari upazila where at least 13 gates were erected at different points. The SCBA will hold an emergency meeting at Hall No 1 of the association office at 1:15pm today protesting Faizee's reception.
