Transport strike in Dinajpur from today

Dinajpur Bus Owners' Association (DBOA) has called an indefinite transport strike here from today.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the association held at its hall room yesterday.

It was alleged that the general secretary of both North Bengal Transport Association and Dinajpur Transport Workers' Union, Mujibar Rahman, was doing illegal activities like toll collection, robbery and land grabbing abusing his position.

The association and other transport organisations also held a press conference at Dinajpur Press Club to inform newsmen about their decision.

The meeting demanded immediate arrest of Mujibar Rahman. Two memorandums were also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police for his arrest within the next 48 hours.

No vehicles will ply in 52 routes of the country during the strike, DBOA leaders declared.

After submission of the memo, a rally was held on the premises of Dinajpur Institute.

When contacted, controversial leader Mujibar Rahman refuted the allegations against him saying he would throw a counter programme today.
