Shab-e-Miraj
Mirza Ghulam Rabbi New York, USA
I was reading Syed Ashraf Ali's article on Shab-e-Miraj with rapt attention. While Islamic literature testifies that the Miraj did take place between Allah and Holy Prophet ( pbuh), it has to be taken as a spiritual journey. Allah is omnipotent and omnipresent and to limit him with human imagination would be a grave error that led to the birth of mullahism (i.e. fundamentalism which ignores the role of metaphor in religious text) . Let's not promote it. It would be a grave mistake to turn the most significant spiritual experience granted to the best of mankind, the best of all the prophets, Holy Prophet, into a fairy tale!
