20 injured in JCD factional clash at DU

At least 20 activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were injured in a clash between two groups of the ruling BNP's student wing at Dhaka University's Jasim Uddin Hall last night. Five of the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The clash ensued when AKM Tuhin, JCD's hall unit joint secretary, vandalised the room of organising secretary Moniruzzaman Monir, at about 11:00pm. Then Monir and his 50-60 cadres armed with rods and sticks ransacked some 34 rooms of the dormitory. As many as 150 students of the rooms were ousted, hall sources said. Police rushed to the hall to quell the feuding groups and picked up four JCD men including Monir.
