U-14 tennis meet from tomorrow


A record number of 32 boys and 12 girls from six countries will line up to hone their skills when the Asian Under-14 Tennis Series begins at the Ramna National Tennis Complex tomorrow.

Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF) is hosting the event that has been patronised by the Australian Open Development Fund as part of its plan to scout talent across Asia.

Sheltech, a real-estate firm, is sponsoring the Dhaka leg. The winners of the meet will get the opportunity to avail advance training in Australia.

The competition will feature four events boys' singles and doubles, girls' singles and doubles.

Besides hosts Bangladesh, players from India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia will compete in the five-day juvenile festival, disclosed Toufiq M Seraj, president of BTF, at a press briefing yesterday.
