Army rout Satkhira


Bangladesh Army romped into the super league of the ABS National Hockey Championship when they rout Satkhira 12-0 at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium yesterday.

The winners dominated the first half 6-0.

Sanwar Hossain led the Army goal-feast with four strikes while Sirajul Islam had three. Didar Hossain, Hamidul Islam and Hadiuzzaman also put their names on the score sheet in a lop-sided affair.

On a day of happy hunting for service teams, Bangladesh Air Force also registered a comfortable 7-0 win against Patuakhali to join Army in the super league. Masudur Rahman scored a hattrick while Dinesh Ali struck twice. Besides, Mamun Hossain and Russel Uddin added one goal each for Air Force.

In another match, Dhaka defeated Mymensingh 4-1 after leading the first half 3-0. Zahid struck twice while Dinar and national striker Russel Mahmud Jimmy shared the other two goals. Rana netted the lone goal for the vanquished.
