Sources said, the students misbehaved with assistant proctor Mokhlesur Rahman of pharmacy department as he rebuked some of them for uttering slang words from the rally towards a female student.

They also beat up Ismail Hossain Suman, a third year student of Bangla department when he protested their misbehaviour with the teacher.

When contacted, Mokhlesur Rahman said, "Some students of Ziaur Rahman Hall misbehaved with me."

Teachers, students and officers have expressed deep concern over the incident and demanded punishment.

Leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra Union also met university proctorial body and demanded exemplary punishment to the students responsible for the incident.
