Orientation meeting with volunteers held

Dhaka Ahsania Mission yesterday organised a half-day orientation meeting at its auditorium in the city for the people interested to join the Mission's Volunteer Service Programme (VSP).Kazi Rafiqul Alam, president and chief executive of the Mission, welcomed the participants and discussed various aspects of the programme at the meeting. More than 100 people with diverse backgrounds attended the meeting. Shahnewaz Khan, director of Training and Materials Development Division, highlighted the Mission's activities through multi-media presentation. The meeting decided that the Mission would arrange small group meetings with interested volunteers in selected fields of activities to develop specific modalities. Regarding resource mobilisations, the Mission officials said the donations of benevolent people are a good source and an institutional arrangement for zakat collection could be another avenue for resource mobilisation. An informative and visual exhibition was also held t after the meeting. Overwhelming responses were received after the Mission called for volunteers in its VSP through the press stating that Bangladeshis themselves have to contribute to change the lot of Bangladesh.
