Speaking at the weekly press briefing yesterday, Foreign Secretary Hemayetuddin told diplomatic correspondents that the CHOGM will deal issues of global challenges, terrorism, conflict resolution, democracy, transparency, freedom of judiciary, economic stability and Millenium Development Goals (MDGs).

Hemayet, who will leave here for New York on October 2 to attend the current UN General Assembly (UNGA) session, said he will attend the meeting of senior officials of the Commonwealth countries in London on October 3-4.

He said the foreign secretaries of the Commonwealth countries will discuss various issues of cooperation, particularly establishing the networking for development among the Commonwealth member states.

They will also discuss the draft of the CHOGM communiqué to be placed at the Commonwealth summit in Malta for approval, he added.

During his stays in London, the foreign secretary will also hold bilateral meetings with senior officials of the British Foreign Ministry and the Commonwealth Secretariat on mutual cooperation. He will also meet the secretary general of the Commonwealth.

In Washington, Hameyet will meet his counterpart at the US State Department and other think tanks and project Bangladesh's viewpoints on pressing international and domestic issues.

On his way back home, he will go to The Hague where he will meet his Dutch counterpart to discussion bilateral issues of mutual interest. He will return Dhaka on October 17.
