Northern University and IBAIS University moved into the last four of the Stamford inter-private university football tournament beating their respective rivals at the Army Stadium on Thursday.In the day's first match, a hattrick by Abdur Rahman helped Northern University register a 5-2 victory over University of Asia Pacific after first half was locked 2-2. Rahman completed his treble with goals in 45, 61 and 69 minutes while Manik and Riaz netted one each goal each for the winners. Galib and Fedrous reduced the margin for the losers. In another match, IBAIS outplayed Independent University of Bangladesh 3-1 after leading the first half 2-1. Bashar struck twice and Anwar scored one for the winners while Nabil netted the lone goal for the vanquished. Meanwhile, the match between American International University of Bangladesh and Asian University was abandoned due to heavy downpour. The match will be held today and the winners will complete the semifinal line-up. Stamford University have already confirmed their semifinal berth.
