$68.6m orders received in Batexpo

Garment exporters received orders worth $68.6 million from foreign buyers at the Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exposition (Batexpo) 2005 that ended yesterday.The amount is $12 million higher than that of last year, says a press release of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). The largest fair of garment products organised by the BGMEA was inaugurated by Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at the city's Sonargaon hotel on September 29. A total of 71 garments and accessories manufacturers took part in the Batexpo 2005. As many as 2,650 buyers visited the fair and among them 152 buyers instantly placed export orders for the garment products.
