FS leaves for London today

Foreign Secretary Hemayetuddin leaves here today for a two-week official tour to London, New York and The Hague to attend the Commonwealth's senior officials meeting and current UN General Assembly Session.Official sources said the foreign secretary on his way to New York would attend the meeting of senior officials of the Commonwealth countries in London on October 3-4. They said the officials will discuss various issues of cooperation to establish the development network among the Commonwealth member states. They will also discuss the draft of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) communiqué to be placed in the Commonwealth Summit in Valeta, Malta on November 25-27, for approval. Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is expected to attend the CHOGM in Malta, which will deal issues of global challenges, terrorism, conflict resolution, democracy, transparency, freedom of judiciary, economic stability and Millenium Development Goals (MDGs).
