'5211 HR violations in 9 months'

A total of 5211 human right violations and unnatural deaths occurred across the country during the first nine months of the year. Of them, deaths from murders including crossfire are the highest. The Bangladesh Bar Council disclosed this yesterday on the basis of news published in 11 daily newspapers of the country. Human rights violation incidents are: killing- 2469 including 285 crossfire's, suicide-464, rape-163, gang rape- 152, child rape-118, killing after rape -53, domestic violence-43, killing for dowry- 143, victims of oppression for dowry-66, killing by husband-108, victims of fatwa-31, kidnapping-389, acid burn -175, killings from bomb attack- 20, injuries- 778 bomb attacks, bomb attacks threat-10, political killing-59 and oppression of journalist -255. Of them, one journalist was killed, 120 were injured, four kidnapped, 45 humiliated and cases filed against 85 journalists during the period.
